BEAUTY AND BRAIN-Nike Oshinowo

It doesn’t get any hotter than this! Nike Oshinowo is well known for her beauty, brains and red carpet look. She always keep it sophisticated and current. With her choice of style and look. One of the keys to are adorable looks is confidence. She is a beauty Queen.
Not many women look as stunning as you do in their mid 40s. What’s the secret?

Nothing special. It’s about believing in oneself and being happy. Beauty comes from within. If you are not happy within you, it’s not possible for you to radiate it outside. If you also don’t eat well, you may not be wholesomely beautiful. I don’t disapprove of myself and wouldn’t compare myself with anyone. A lot of people do this, especially women and they end up condemning themselves. It is either their faces are too long, too wide or their height is not good enough or something. I don’t do this. It is better for women to believe in themselves and get going. For me, whatever I wear is based on how I feel at that particular time. Women, no matter their age, are girlish. We always want to look good and girly for our friends. Most times, we want to impress our friends with our appearances more than we strive to impress our male admirers. You know it's fun and feels good to be applauded and envied by your mates.

Living up to society’s standard of being “Beautiful”?

It is impossible. You cannot live up to society’s expectations of you. They don’t know you, they never will, they don’t live with you. They have a perception of what they imagine your life entails. They don’t imagine I go to the loo (or wee or bath) like everyone else. So I don’t try, I learned earlier on that I can never live up to their expectation, I am not perfect. I am completely flawed but then that’s what makes me human. I’m not perfect; I have never wanted to be perfect. But they imagine this perfect being with perfect beauty, perfect this and perfect that. No, that isn’t me – that is a figment of their imagination, that is so not me.

How would you describe yourself ?

This is me. I am a simple girl, your everyday girl. I love food, my family and God. I’m a deep thinker and really into myself. I love reading and meditate a lot. I see life on a brighter side. I am positively minded and have no regard for failure. It is not in my agenda, so my activities don’t attract failure. I was born in Nigeria but I grew up in England. I had fun all the while and since I returned to the country, my utmost desire has been to contribute my little quota to its development. As for inspiration, God Almighty is my only source of inspiration. He has been my source of strength and enablement.
