Beyonce was ranked the 18th most powerful woman in the world in a 'Forbes' list published Thursday. Here's a look back at how the singer's power and money have been recognized by the magazine.
2008: 'The Celebrity 100'-After being unjustly passed over in 2006 and 2007, Forbes finally placed Beyonce on its annual "Celebrity 100" in 2008. Instead of climbing the ranks over the course of a couple years, B jumped right to number four and she's been a mainstay ever since.
2009: 'The Best Paid Celebs Under 30'-In 2009 Beyonce topped Forbes' list of the "Best-Paid Celebs Under 30" after pulling down $80 million at just 27 years old. In the course of that year she broke into a new level of popularity thanks to the ubiquity of "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)" and her widely-praised performance at the Presidential Inaugural Ball.
2009: 'The Celebrity 100' Pt. 2- In 2009 Beyonce maintained her fourth-place ranking on the Forbes "Celebrity 100." The superstar pulled down $87 million that year, and lest we forget, Kanye West was quick to remind us that "Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time. One of the best videos of all time!"
2010: 'The World's Most Powerful Women'-Perhaps Beyonce's continued emphasis on her message of empowerment factored into her entrance into the Forbes list of the 100 "Most Powerful Women." She made a big splash as she entered the list at number nine, right above Ellen Degeneres.
2010: 'The Best-Paid Celebs Under 30' Pt. 2-Beyonce topped this list for two years in a row, but she didn't take home $87 million just from music. At this point the singer's fragrance and clothing lines were really starting to pay off.
2010: 'The Celebrity 100' Pt. 3-Beyonce has never topped this fiercely competitive list, but she came closest in 2010 when she was ranked second just behind Oprah Winfrey. The singer famously thrilled fans in the summer of 2010 when she appeared onstage with husband Jay-Z at the Coachella music festival.
2011: 'The World's 25 Highest-Paid Musicians'-
While Beyonce made more than her husband in Forbes' 2010 list, her income slipped from $87 million to $35 million. That's why Jay-Z managed to outrank her at 17th on this list with $37 million. Beyonce managed to get lumped into a five-way tie for 18th place with AC/DC, Diddy, Tim McGraw, and Muse.
2011: 'The World's Highest-Paid Celebrity Couples'-Beyonce and husband Jay-Z managed a combined $72 million in one year, making them the second-highest-paid couple behind Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady. Look for the musical couple to top this list next year since both of them have new albums out.
2011: 'The World's Most Powerful Couples'-Not only are these two well-paid, but according to Forbes, they're powerful too. In fact they're ranked as the third-most powerful celebrity couple behind #1 Barack and Michelle Obama and #2 Brangelina.
2011: 'The Best-Paid Celebs Under 30' Pt. 3-After Beyonce's income slipped from $87 million to $35 million her rank on this list slid from first to eighth. But even in a good year it would have been hard to beat Lady Gaga who pulled in a ridiculous $170 million in one year.
2011: 'The World's Most Powerful Women' Pt. 2-Beyonce went from ninth place to 18th place in this world-wide list of female VIPs. She was joined in the top 20 by Lady Gaga and Oprah Winfrey, but German Chancellor Angela Merkel topped the list.
2011: 'The Celebrity 100' Pt. 4-With a $52 million slip in income it's no wonder that Beyonce came down to number 29 on this megalist. Her rankings in 2011 were down all around, but with a new album this year, we imagine we'll see her moving back up in 2012..
