Thursday 28th July 2011 saw the launch of ‘Fashion Lounge’, a fashion networking party, the first of its kind, which has already seen a spawn of imitations. The First edition of Fashion Lounge, organised by both Kemi Akande and Rachael Taiwo- Akingbade took place at Chrome, Victoria Island.
The event was graced with celebrities such as Tiwa Savage, models, modelling agencies, celebrity stylists, media tycoons, make-up artists, photographers and beauty and fashion magazines and other fashion industry professionals.
There was an extended red carpet with free drinks flowing for most of the night courtesy of Grey Goose Vodka, Christian Audigier champagne and Red Bull. The event was buzzing with all the major media houses in attendance, and was also filmed by MTV BASE.
Guests where given wristbands to enable them to be specific about which parts of the industry they wished to network with, and they where also treated to a showcase by three designers, House of Makeda, who owns a boutique in Ikoyi and up and coming Designers Lola Buttons and Zhan Lady.
The event will be taking place on the last Thursday of every month, and organizers promise that each event will be slightly different from the last, the main aim to help provide exposure for newcomers to the industry and give guests an opportunity to network with the movers and shakers of the fashion world.
