FASHION IS ABOUT LETTING WHAT YOU WEAR TELL A STORY OF WHO YOU ARE-MUSIC ARTIST GOLDIE TALKS ABOUT HER STYLE

This lovely songstress is back on the scene and hotter than ever. She got the head turning look with her craziest fashionable style. When it comes to fashion she always go to the extreme. One thing I love about Goldie is she always takes out time to look fabulous. Her music videos red carpet look is splendid.City People recently awarded her best Nigerian female artiste of the year.

Introduce yourself-? My name is Goldie Harvey, (Susan Oluwabimpe Harvey) I am from Ikole in Ekiti state.Am the first born of my parents.I have 5 siblings. I attended Green-springs Montessori primary school, Saint John’s College secondary school and I have a degree in business management from the University of Sunderland UK. I am a multiple award winning pop artiste signed to Kennis Music. My debut Album Gold, was released late last year.

What inspired you-? I’m inspired by life and interpersonal human relations.

In your own opinion what is Fashion- ? Fashion for me, isn’t just about wearing a fab dress, or shoes, or carrying a fab bag. It’s about a life style, a mindset, the way we live, the way we think. It’s about letting what we wear tell a story about who we are and how we see the world.

Your style- ? I’m influenced by fairy tales and horror movies,Beauty and the beast, the Angel versus the demon. I don’t believe in Black and white. for me, there are just varying shades of gray. I combine a warm tingly feeling of content with a feeling of shock and horror in the most insane fairytale villain ever. I’m living my dreams and facing my fears everyday through what I wear,as a result you’re likely to find me in black lace, red velvets, crinkly satins, and feathers.(laughin)just kidding... Uhmm... My style is comfortable yet wild, glamorous yet edgy, flirty but classy, with an air of mystery and danger to it.

Style icon- ? I love Madonna.I think Angelina Jolie is cool too.

Do you have a Style crush on anyone-? Yes! Gwen Stefani!

Signature Style- ? A corseted singed in waist.

Where do you do your Shop- I shop whenever I’m on holidays, or I get some local designers to make me haute couture pieces which I design myself.

Favorite Designer-? I love Dolce&Gabanna. Uhhmm Prada, dior, Gucci and Jean paul gaultier.

Things people don’t know about you- ? I have a fear of people and crowded places and germs. I have a tendency to be a recluse.

How as fashion affected your style. -? In as much as fashion is a very important part of my style and I believe every song, every outfit, I wear should tell a story, I do not follow trends, I make and set my own trends which I think is very key in my individualism. As a result, the first thing people think of when my name comes up is “OMG, what is she wearing today?” (Laughing) fashion fades, Style is forever. I have a style. What is yours...?

Who is your most stylish African celebrity and why-? I think Nike Oshinowo is fantastic.

Never be caught wearing- ? Clothes made with multicoloured fabric. I can’t stand any fabric that has more than 6 colours in it. My brain cannot just handle it. (Laughing)

Beauty Routine-? I exfoliate regularly.I use toners and sun protective creams.I also try as much as possible to sleep well and drink plenty water.

You seem to be very stylish.Do you see yourself becoming a designer-? I could be a muse for some designers if they’d like or If I did decide to give up my first love which is music, then maybe I could become a designer because I love to put in a hundred and fifty percent into all I do and my music would suffer if I indulged in my love for fashion at this stage.

How do you see the Nigerian fashion industry-? It’s a huge market that is growing by the day. There are a lot of innovative designers springing up every day and I’m happy to say that Nigerians are very fashion conscious people.

Being classy is-? Being Classy is behaving in a manner which isn’t vulgar or inappropriate, given the circumstances you find yourself. Class for me is about behaviour not your apparel.

Where do you see yourself in the next five years-? I like to keep my dreams to myself really, because they’re just dreams until I start living them. What I will say is this, I’d love to keep doing what I’m doing, which is music and I’d love to remain an inspiration to those who look up to me.

3 words to describe Goldie- ? Creative, hardworking, intelligent.

What have been your challenges in your career-? One of my major challenges has been getting people to understand my style and my sound. Thank God that’s all a thing of the past now.

What else would you be if you weren’t a Music artist-? I would either be in the military, be a writer, or I would have a school,Primary and Secondary school and be the headmistress.

Things important thing every lady should have-? A pair of really nice black heels. Multifunctional and can go with every outfit.

If you have the opportunity to change 3 things in Nigeria what would that be-? We need constant electricity for one and I’d also like us to be more unified despite the language, cultural and religious differences.

Do you design your outfits-? When it’s made to measure.Yes! I like to have “a very hands” on approach to what I wear. I feel more comfortable wearing what I design if I don’t buy “off the rack” because I know what looks good on me and I like to be comfortable at all times.

How do you like your red carpet look- ? Glamorous, and a bit theatrical.

Lately what has been happening to you-? I’ve been going on tour round the country, been rapping up works on my reloaded album scheduled to drop mid September/October, and I also just released a new video titled “Don’t Touch” off my debut album Gold.

What can you not do without-? A nice pair of sexy high heeled shoes.

What is your favorite colour-? I love reds, greens, purples, blues, black, and of course Gold.

How would you use your last 15 seconds on earth-? I’d pray for those I’m leaving behind.

It hard to stay fit how do you manage-? I eat well, and I exercise regularly with the help of a fitness trainer who comes to my house 3 to 4 nights a week.

Advice for upcoming Artist- ? Define your sound and your style. Improve yourself, get proper management and don’t let anyone ever tell you,you can’t do it. Surround yourself with positive people always.
